Houston-based FMC Technologies (NYSE: FTI) is opening a 55,000-square-foot facility in San Antonio, according to the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation (SAEDF). The expansion brings 160 new jobs to the city over the next three years.
FMC’s new research, testing, and repair facility will service oil and gas companies located in the Eagle Ford Shale play. The company’s capital investment of more than $10 million will represent the jobs and construction project which has already begun in South Bexar County.
Steve Waters, Chairman at SAEDF states, “We continue to see companies locating to the San Antonio area because of the demand for oil and gas service companies to support the activity within the Eagle Ford Shale region.”
FMC is a leading technology services provider to the energy industry and has approximately 20,000 employees and operates 30 production facilities in 17 countries. In 2013 Forbes Magazine named FMC one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies.
