Although the oil industry is experiencing one of its worst downturns in more than six years, it has not affected the turnout for 2015 Summer NAPE. The event, currently taking place in Houston, Texas at the George R. Brown Convention Center is the nation’s largest oil and gas prospect expo.
Jeanine Haller Piskurich, Chair of the NAPE Operators Committee states, “NAPE is beneficial in up as well as down markets because it builds attendees’ businesses.”
Day one activities started with the Business Conference, which explored and discussed the industry’s most pressing topics. It included presentations from Arthur W. Gelber, President of Gelber & Associates Corp.; Gelber Energy LLC and James C. (Jim) Manatt Jr., Chairman/CEO of Thrust Energy, Inc. The Business Conference wrapped up with a panel discussion from industry insiders that was moderated by Christina Kitchens, EVP Managing Group Director.
After the Business Conference Luncheon, the exhibit hall opened to a great turnout. According to organizers, the event is on pace with last year’s conference of more than 300 exhibitors and a projected 5,000 attendees. Summer NAPE along with NAPE Summit, which took place earlier this year, is expected to contribute more than $22 million to the Houston economy.
Additionally, today NAPE Partners donated $100,000 to the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) Education Foundation. The donation will be used for a program that provides high school students with advance STEM learning to prepare them for future oil and gas careers.
Barry Russell, IPAA President and CEO states, “Thanks to the generous support of the NAPE Partners, the IPAA Education Foundation can continue to build upon its commitment to education outreach and preparing the next generation of talented young professionals who will lead the future of the U.S. oil and gas industry.”
NAPE is the oil and gas industry’s marketplace for buying, selling and trading of prospects and producing properties. The organization is a networking hub for oil and gas professionals to meet, connect and do business.
